Either way, you might well piss them off by calling their bluff, so it wouldn’t hurt to be looking for another job. If, for some reason, you decide to play along, make sure they write down what your new salary and title will be, what additional responsibilities you’ll have, what clear benchmarks you have to hit to achieve it, and by when. I’d be surprised if you didn’t find that the Washington Football It’s In My Dna shirt moreover I love this promised salary is pretty low for the new job, and/or that they become wishy-washy and start backtracking when it comes time to pay up. I mean if they fired your boss then they should have plenty of money to pay you the difference between what you make now and that raise. I’d get everything in writing before you even lift a finger to do ANY extra work. Set a time frame. I’ll do it for 3 maybe months then you get the increase. Or just tell them that you are comfortable NOW

You can put “acting xxxx role” on your resume so people think you have the Washington Football It’s In My Dna shirt moreover I love this director experience. From my experience, if they don’t deliver, another company will. In other words, you are more likely to get that role and the pay elsewhere and use it as leverage. Was your boss let go because he was at the point when they had to pay “boss salary”? I’m just wondering if he got screwed over in a similar manner. Can you find out, like do you have his contact information? I’ve been in this exact situation and it worked out for me. There is a 50/50 coin flip I would argue, and you’ll never know the odds without playing the game. Heads: they hire a replacement and you get nothing; Tails: you grow into the position and are rewarded for your loyalty. A lot of people here are making it seem as if “Tails” isn’t an option. But it certainly is. And it does happen that way. For me, it resulted in the biggest promotion of my career and ultimately led to my joining the partnership. Are the odds stacked against you? Yes. Do the odds favor the house? Most definitely…it’s certainly not as simple as the 50/50 I’m facetiously casting, HOWEVER, don’t discount your odds of getting something out of this and cutting off your nose to spite your face.
