We have one in our victorian house, was tiny with little doors on when we moved in. We’ve since removed the doors and made the hatch bigger to let more natural light into the dining room and so we can actually talk to each other in the living room and dining room when cooking. Three of my aunts all live on the same street and all their houses have one. One aunt uses hers and two of them never did. Yep, there’s one in my parents house but the room it goes into isn’t used as a dining room, so it’s pretty useless.
