Now we have moved things now it is only used by my son, who occasionally sticks his head through it to say hi whilst I cook. It will be going when we redo the The Moody ELF Merry Christmas 2023 Shirt moreover I will buy this kitchen. We had one in our current house (1950s semi) Large lounge diner and smaller kitchen with a hatch between. We knocked through the hatch wall to make the kitchen bigger and built a wall between the kitchen and living room. We use houses differently these days. The back end of the living room (dining end) was never used as we don’t sit and eat meals at the table that regularly. Now we have an island and a table in the kitchen and use that much more regularly now. Maybe in 50 years time someone will come along and tear it to bits as things will change again. I did love the quirky hatch when we bought the house though, it was a definite selling point!

Our house did have one, but the The Moody ELF Merry Christmas 2023 Shirt moreover I will buy this previous owner knocked out that whole wall. Makes the kitchen bigger as we can have the fridge where there used to be a door. My parents had a big opening in the wall between the dining room/kitchen and the living room. It didnt have doors though and was more like the size of a window. We did in our old house which was built in 1986, and my grandparents had one in their house which was known as the upside down house as the living room was upstairs. We had one as a child and my dad designed the entire new kitchen around the existing hatch. Loved the thing. It’s become a bit of a family in-joke now We had one in the house we lived in between 71 and 81. We did use it. My ex in laws have one in their house and they did use it too. My parents in law have one, but they have a tiny kitchen, so it’s currently being blocked by the bread bin. I’d love one! We also had one when I was a kid but my parents bizarrely had it patched over by a plasterer so one day it was just gone (which freaked me out until they explained what had happened) because they thought it was dated and kitsch Used to have one as a child in a house built in the 50s. It was soon filled in though as the kitchen was tiny and needed the full space. I don’t think we ever used it.
