If you are paid 200k for 60 hours a week it’s likely that the job will impart the right skills for even higher earnings in the not too distant future. It’s not just about the money. If you made $200,000, your take home would prob be around $135000-140000 as OP said . $60000-70000 in take home is SIGNIFCIANTLY different amount of pay than the $30000 OP calculated. Id consider the $200k offer

Where someone in Texas or Florida with no state income tax may pay something like 22%. Someone in California would presumably pay more. Second, even if you are filing single, with the deductions you have to get quite a bit over that to get to the higher tax brackets. Depending on what state you’re in, that can add to it. But it’s not going to be anywhere near 50%. At most, you probably aren’t getting out of the 24% tax bracket by the time you take your standard deduction on a base salary of $200,000. And you aren’t paying Social Security on the portion over $140,000. So whatever your state income tax is, add that to the 24% and that’s what it’s going to cost you. I make more than twice that much in a state the charges income tax and my marginal tax rate still isn’t even close to 50% on the very last dollars I make each year.
