It depends on the She’s Everything He’s Just A Theoretical Physicist Barbenheimer 90s T-Shirt But I will love this specialty I think. Dermatologists, Opthalmologists, Pathologists are some examples of specialties with his balance, from what I understand I know a lot of doctors don’t but a lot of them can if they wanted to. I saw a post for a family doctor at a hospital for $150k part time IT isn’t super hot right now though. Still easier than getting an advanced degree, but is becoming less and less of a catch all career change it used to be. We have multiple six figure positions open on my team and we get no applicants. Full time remote, good bonus structure, fun work. No one is interested. So is an additional 30, 37k net per year worth the stress? I’d argue no. Even as a single person I’m never working 60 hour weeks again. Single tax brackets are 24% from 89k to 170k. I know you’re including in state taxes, so let’s call it like 27%. So any income up to 170k is taxed at the same rate that OP is already taxed at. Only the final 30k would be taxed at a higher rate. Thanks for your comment! I was thinking along the same lines. Having a solid side hustle might be able to make close to the difference if I wanted to work more hours. More money is always nice, but having no life outside of work sucks. Having the opportunity to grow a successful business would be great to, however, there is no guarantee that I would be working any less to make more. Especially if employees are working close to that much, it seems like a recipe for high turnover. I feel like blue collar trades has always had a mentality of over working yourself for whatever reason. Feel free to share your thoughts! Thanks again!

Working with your body 60 hours a week doesn’t seem sustainable, plus with building your own business there’s no real guarantee you’d even hit that 200k. It’s with heavy machinery. So mostly AC cab with some labor every now and then. He already hits around 200-230k as the She’s Everything He’s Just A Theoretical Physicist Barbenheimer 90s T-Shirt But I will love this sole owner/operator. Took him years to learn the trade and a few years on his own to get to that point. Growing that kind of business seems tough because of machine costs and constant plans changing from the GC while getting the employees to constantly put out work that is on spec to mitigate having to go back with heavy machinery to fix it. But, people have done it before. I’d stick with the full time job. I don’t know the industry, but anything that requires a ton of upfront capital seems risky.
