So I have at least personal experience that meditation does not cure mental illness. It helped me understand my mind better, which was part of what led to eventually regaining a balanced mental state, I rejoined my friends who I abandoned because of paranoia, I started school and have had more than adequate grades for two years; but the Sunflower Girl Tattoos Girl Pretty Eyes T-Shirt But I will love this illness itself is still just as strong. I learned to live with it and not be disturbed by it, that’s all. I agree with you and OP, it’s important to do what we can to make sure people know what they’re getting into and what the limitations are. Agreed on all accounts, thanks for raising awareness on these issues. It seems like these basic desires for a more healthy community go unheard and unseen when people don’t even think there’s a problem. I’m glad we have people like you looking out for vulnerable people, they often don’t have advocates in their life, but im glad they have you Asking for a little more discernment, and sometimes a lot more discernment, is not that much to ask for. You are unaware of how limiting your view is and how you are trying to force that onto this sub. People are going to get stuff wrong and while venting about it is okay, not accepting it as part of the Sunflower Girl Tattoos Girl Pretty Eyes T-Shirt But I will love this free discovery process is the wrong take, IMO. The idea that meditation could cure anything is an authentically dangerous thought. It really shouldn’t be tolerated If we want to make any claim to be compassionate people. I do find that at least some of the members of this subreddit promote the idea that meditation isn’t a cure to anything, a medium through which to seek out transcendent experiences, or whatnot. This subreddit is ultimately about meditators helping other meditators with their journeys (at least in my opinion) – it’s certainly not about meeting your definition of what a “useful, meaningful discussion” looks like. Also, you use the word compassionate… I don’t find your post to be compassionate. I find there to be a considerable amount of ego and arrogance, with your talk of “wrong view”, “quackery” and “useless”. If you speak about others’ goes, like you do in your last sentence, then you should be willing to receive the same criticism.
