I don’t have anything against DLC intrinsically, it’s when it’s weaponized against the Star Wars Baby Yoda Style Shirt What’s more,I will buy this consumer that it really irks me. I actually prefer the Paradox-type model of releasing a framework and having multiyear dev cycles. Crusader Kings 2 and Stellaris are among my favorite games of all time. Look at F2P – take all those mechanics and stuff them into your full or extra priced game and pretend it’s normal and that games just got that much more expensive to make (even though you’re making more money than ever). Feels like only a matter of time until a 70 eurodollar game will ask us to pay for extra stamina if we want to make more actions today instead of waiting.

The insidious thing is, if any of them affect gameplay, you can’t ignore them. Post tries to equate the two eras but oblivion was back in the era where DLC was optional to expand on the original game, rather than necessary to complete it.
