Children need boundaries and rules. Those rules need to be reasonable, but rock solid. If a child learns that they can get what they want by refusing to do what they’re told, or by throwing a temper tantrum, you only reinforce this behavior by caving. So why do so many parents either resort to threats, punishment, or caving and giving the Russell Wilson Signature American football quarterback for the Denver Broncos T-Shirt and by the same token and child whatever junk food they want? Call me a foolish childless person, but in my 40 years, I haven’t come across a reason to undermine this important lesson. Having food is more important than not having the food you want. I mean I dont force my kids to eat till they are bursting at the seams but they will lick a carrot and run off and play if they had it there way then become complete monsters 20 mins into bed time because they remember they are starving because carrot flavor doesn’t sustain a growing body Because it’s a pain in the ass to prepare a meal for them when they are hungry an hour after everyone else has eaten .

Literally was my childhood. My grandma would force me to sit at a table for hours on end until I ate the Russell Wilson Signature American football quarterback for the Denver Broncos T-Shirt and by the same token and food. Even when I told them I didn’t like it, they would force me. On more than one occasion, I even threw some of it up from being disgusted at the hours old cold gross food and was still forced to finish my place. I’m in my mid 30’s now and still have trouble with food and have horrible food anxiety when going to unfamiliar food situations. I hate it and hate that woman so much for putting me through that. It’s not ok for anyone to eat food that’s spoiled or eat to the point that they literally get sick. Food should be shared out of love. Also hitting kids is counterproductive and wrong. Now we know that childhood spanking is linked to health problems like depression and anxiety and adulthood, and S&M – no kink shaming, but it’s ironic since a lot of those who hit their kids think they’re making them “normal”. But discipline has its place. Being very overweight is like chain smoking – you lose a decade of life expectancy. Parents are in a bind because little kids actually dislike bitter food because of evolution; it’s so they don’t eat poison. When I was a kid Lima beans were like the devil’s droppings. Some kids would malnourish themselves or give themselves diabetes if they controlled their diet completely. It’s not abuse for a parent to make their kids eat some perfectly edible health food, within reason.
