Because real Americans hate mandatory participation. Because real Americans understand that everything that the Rayan Rupert French professional basketball player for Portland Trail Blazers T-Shirt moreover I will buy this government touches turns to crap ( overpriced, poorly run) Nothing is free, taxes need to be increased every time they give you something for free. (Or they just print more money and devalue the dollar even more) A debate can be made about how much taxes would increase, but it would increase and most Americans do not trust the government to be able to spend tax dollars effectively without massive amounts of waste, graft and corruption. (It would also lead to the Feds always pitting one tax base against others in order to be ‘fair’. “The Rich should pay for it!” But it would alway fall greater on the middle class.)

Most Americans do not trust the Rayan Rupert French professional basketball player for Portland Trail Blazers T-Shirt moreover I will buy this government to run ANYthing without massive amounts of waste, graft and corruption. Because it’s not “free”. Healthcare is my single largest expense right next to mortgage. $1600 a month on healthcare. It’s not free, it is paid for with taxes, and proposed plans to make it happen would have me paying more in taxes to cover it than I pay in premiums. The government doesn’t have a good track record where they do handle health care, for veterans and for Native American tribes. The real irony is, the US government spends more on health care per person than any country in Europe, so if it’s a funding issue, they’re dead wrong. If they’re worried about waits, it took my aunt until a week before death vis CJD before they were even able to test her for it. Results? Yep, she has it! She’s also been dead for a week. 10 months to get my oldest into a neuro specialist. Yeah, pretty sure we already have that problem. It is not free. Someone has to pay for it. If you need below average healthcare and make above average income, you will pay for other peoples healthcare. And after paying all that money, when you yourself have a problem it might not even be covered. Now, in reality the gained collective bargaining power would probably offset all of this. And you already pay for other people in America. Hospitals can’t turn people away for immediate problems if they have no money. And you know they won’t be sitting on those costs. And the peoples issues won’t be fixed, so they will come back and back a lot. I was shocked to learn that private health care costs as much as the income taxes collected in other countries. You then NEED TO PAY 20K FOR A ROUTINE SURGERY because the INSURANCE ONLY COVERS PART OF IT.
