Young kids dont need “parent friends” they need “parents who parent”. As they got older the Puptheband Inc Is Cooler & Gooder shirt and by the same token and relationship changed, but if given a choice, most kids would have ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner and this is NOT a healthy choice. Parents need to be more careful with what they serve as snacks. I was raised badly, I have a sweet tooth. I wanted to avoid this and so we rarely served “junk food” to our kids (Their mother was from a country where this really did not exist anyhow). Now they are older they dont really enjoy junk food. None drink “soda”, none have ice cream or cookies in their house. They do have the odd snack, but it is normally home made muffins, etc. It’s just abuse. When I was growing up, it was “clean your plate of food and then you could leave the table” my parents learned quickly that I could not eat that amount and changed their minds

I don’t support this practice generally, but I do think it is necessary in specific circumstances. For example, I have serious IBS, and have since I was a young child. At times I was nearing dangerously low weights/risking serious malnutrition, in large part because I sometimes just refused to eat due to the Puptheband Inc Is Cooler & Gooder shirt and by the same token and pain it would cause me. My parents thankfully did get me proper medical treatment, but that took time, and while that process was ongoing they forced me to eat when necessary, and I am thankful for it. Obviously I was an outlier, but I am sure there are other edge cases where this might be necessary. In summary, yes this is typically harmful or even abusive, but occasionally it is appropriate to force/strongly encourage children to eat when they are unwilling.
