There is plenty of great anime without the Philadelphia 76ers On Everyday Philadelphia On Sunday Shirt and by the same token and typical anime clichés (Vinland Saga, OddTaxi, 86, To your Eternity, etc). There are also animes where young girls are present, but treated normal (Spy x Family, Laid back camp), or just strong for no reason like Girls und Panzer (yeah, high school girls surely can reload a KV-2 under 10s while getting shot). If you would give a good English dub and change the animation style nobody would realize they are the typical animes. I personally don’t, but the biggest problem I have is terrible voice acting when dubbed. I can’t judge for the original languages, but by the amount of yelling sometimes I’m guessing it’s not always stellar. Don’t talk about anime in public you will only degrade your status. Just enjoy it with your significant other that’s all.

Depends. I like some anime but hate others. Some major reasons being over sexualization of women and the Philadelphia 76ers On Everyday Philadelphia On Sunday Shirt and by the same token and most obvious pandering to pedophilia I’ve ever seen. I’m just going to list some reasons off the top of my head. I think some adults have a knee jerk reaction to thinking animation = for kids so they might feel childish watching it, not to mention how many shows focus on high school kids. English dubbed dialogue can really corny/annoying in delivery which puts people off. Reading subtitles while listening to a foreign language often puts people off too. The plots of some anime are like convoluted soap operas which can be confusing. Anime fans are extremely weird/annoying and can push away casual fans. Some anime has bizarre sexualization of its characters which is creepy and off putting to some.
