Sounds they simply thought they performed well considering it was a very busy day and their first day. They gave an honest appraisal of what they did well (coffee) and what they couldn’t do (cold drinks). Doesn’t sound like someone who’s hot headed to me. I’m not saying I’m sure that’s what happened, the hard part is recognizing whether or not she had this attitude before she got fired aswell. If a new employees pulled that attitude on their first fucking day I’d fire them as well. Its part of why “a trial shift” concept exists. His response surprised me so when I asked about it, he explained that when people with previous serving experience come in they’re actually worse than those with no experience, because they were so convinced they knew had to be a waitress better than anyone else, and brought in past habits that messed up with the flow of his restaurant. I think attitude was an issue too, and they wouldn’t listen on how to follow their flow because they were convinced their way from other restaurants was better. I work in an office space and had a new employee get hired on my team who’s had easily a decade of experience on me. She approached our work relationship with me with a ton of humility and it was a great working relationship. She ended up leading the team I worked on despite my years of service there and I had zero complaints because she never sought to devalue anyone’s experience, only wanted to contribute.
