Once out shopping with the Merry Stitchmas Santa merry Christmas shirt but in fact I love this wife she tried something on and asked if she looked fat in it. She was kinda chubby to begin with, but I said no. But I should have been honest and said that it wasn’t flattering her at all. It made her ass flat. Luckily she didn’t buy it. So first and foremost – if you don’t want to know the truth then don’t ask the question. Have my feelings been hurt a little when I’ve asked things? Of course. I’m human. I also tend to react out of embarrassment. I appreciate my husbands honesty even when I may respond to it with attitude or emotions. I think a lot of things comes down to how it’s said not what is said – but I also don’t want my husband to sugar coat things if I ask a direct question for his opinion on my appearance.

Tsk tsk the Merry Stitchmas Santa merry Christmas shirt but in fact I love this right answer is to either act astonished and ask ‘does it?’ pretending you’re trying to see it and failing miserably. Or you frown and say ‘which is weird because your body is gorgeous, we should just burn that dress for its offence’. Any other reaction is just asking for trouble. The answer to the question is the truth. If the truth is no, then that will be the end of it. If the truth is yes, she might get upset in that moment, but telling her the truth is a long term play. When you are both 80 years old and she is all wrinkled and thinks that she is ugly, you can tell her how beautiful she is and she will know that you are telling her the truth because you didn’t lie to her when she asked if she looked fat in that dress.
