My dad swept floors in a cement works on shifts. They had an investment scheme and put all his spare money in that. He took early redundancy at 50 and invested this money. He’s 75 now and just bought a new fancy electric car. He never stops being busy. He is currently helping my younger brother build a conservatory. I’m from a post-soviet country so even in my grandparents’ generation things didn’t quite work that way – you were all broke unless you had connections to the Merry Christmas Snoopy And Friends Snowman shirt Also,I will get this party or did something illegal (e.g. smuggling rare foreign goods… like jeans lol). I was born a few years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and my family had great hopes that at least I would be able to live a better life than them and earn a good living by doing honest work and working hard, which is what capitalism was supposed to be in comparison to “communism” (quotation marks because what we had is very far from what communism is in theory). The reality is a slap in the face.

Good thing my family and I have no generational wealth, and never knew what the Merry Christmas Snoopy And Friends Snowman shirt Also,I will get this good life was like. Anything above basic necessities is luxury in my book. Yep. You even see the impact just in more recent times. When I entered the IT workforce in 2000 at 22 years old I was making $55k and that was good/great money for entry level. I’m now 45 and making a tad over double that. I realized just recently that factoring for inflation I am making….basically the same I was making back then. Maybe a tad more which makes sense given the seniority. And this is after lots of job switching earlier in my career to chase pay increases and whatnot. Inflation undermined it all and IT industry wages basically flat lined since then when you factor for inflation.
