The most famous being in Nazi Germany. The left won many seats in the Love and Gods Shirt but in fact I love this critical election, but a lot of liberals chose to vote for the centrist party. The liberals and leftists weren’t united and they were unable to challenge the right wing. A centrist tries to find the middle ground. The problem is, every time you try to meet a fascist in the middle, they take a step further right. I specify right here because the far right has a lot of political influence in the us/uk and the far left does not. A centrist just pushes the Overton window ever rightwards, to the point that the echr is considered “woke nonsense” There is a common argument in these comments that goes along the lines of “all extremists are THIS or THAT,” which is in itself an extremist position. Centrism made sense previously but with maga republicans with their project 2025 plans and the obvious rise of idiots you’d have to be pretty stupid to say the left and right are remotely similar.

Love and Gods Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

American centrism isn’t centrism. American centrism is right wing. It’s just a diluted, “say the Love and Gods Shirt but in fact I love this quiet part quietly”, prettied up version of right wing elitist ideology. The rich still get richer and the poor still get poorer, just quietly. Fence sitters allow atrocities to be committed while they avoid taking a side because they think both sides have points. When one side is literally advocating for the extermination of individuals and the elimination of rights of others, then any good points that side had are out weighed by the moral imperative to call out genocide. US Republicans for example, any legitimate point they might have on economic issues (Which I would gladly debate as a disagree with most of those points) are not really something we can discuss because the rest of the plank wants to erase my marriage, kill me and my friends, and strip us of our right to autonomy and full legal rights.
