The truth is politics has affected every aspect of our lives and if you are claiming that both sides are equally bad you’re being disingenuous. Arguing from ‘morality’. For example, in my teens I ventured a bit in libertarianism. One of their sayings was ‘taxation is theft’. And you know… it kind of is. Yet, you immediately run into a block then. This one I think is actually something centrists SHOULD examine in themselves. You’ll often get people who say things like I’m fiscally conservative and socially liberal. They kind of see themselves as this good balance. I no longer see them that way. I actually don’t see it as a workable thing because somethings operate in a system. For example, how does a society deal with children of single mothers. Social liberalism would not impose restrictions on women in terms of their sexuality. So many are going to get pregnant. What kind of society are you going to have if it doesn’t take care of its children? Not much of a society. I’d actually say society will not let that happen unless it is totally collapsed. So you’re going to have some kind of a welfare state if you have social liberalism. They go somewhat hand in hand. If you are a centrist, you really need to look within yourself and really dig deep into your political views to see if you run into any of these traps.

We have tried centrism and it brought us to Donald Trump being president. There is a very strong right wing in America, because it’s funded by billionaires. And with corporate media, the message on the right gets a lot more signal boosting and it works on a lot of voters. What is the center? It’s basically asking for very little change so it feels like both sides can be made happy. But the status quo is conservative. So the center is really right of center. And you can’t beat a right wing from right of center. You beat the right wing from a left wing. That’s shown to be the case repeatedly in history.
