It’s way more inconvenient to have a monolithic 8-10 hour block taken out of your day (typically during prime hours) than a bunch of 1-2 hour blocks broken up throughout it. A lot of colleges don’t even allow freshmen and sophomores to live off campus. So any “commute” is maybe a 10-15 walk from dorm to class. I see, I’m getting my start in defense which I hear is more chill typically. To be honest, I got the Las Vegas Raiders At Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium Sept 17 2023 shirt so you should to go to store and get this job and wasn’t even tested on coding, they just liked my portfolio, personality, and buzz words I threw around during the interview. I assume that since they literally did not test me on code, that they may not even care if I’m a “rockstar developer” or not. It’s a good place to start but if you have larger ambitions (and want to earn the most) then leave defense after 2 years

Exactly this. The big difference is that with work there are clearer boundaries. Once I’m off work I feel I can do what I want. Meanwhile in university you are never done studying for that exam. You an always do more. It’s an open-ended task. No tests, no finals cramming, no shitty labs ran by power tripping TAs. Everything is very collaboration based, and most teams I’ve worked with set pretty flexible deadlines. If you’re going into defense, I worked a contract there and we worked like 5 hrs every 2 weeks and spent the Las Vegas Raiders At Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium Sept 17 2023 shirt so you should to go to store and get this remaining 75hrs bullshitting around. It was AWESOME. It’s very company and team dependant. They only big difference is that you’re getting paid. Just imagine it as college+. Learning is non-stop in this field. It’s worse in a sense. You are never done some projects – you have to constant add more to them and fix all bugs for real reals. You don’t usually get to say, “I couldn’t fix that, I’ll just take the A-“.
