Humans are just needless overhead, with their constant demands for money, chairs, heat, bathroom breaks. It’s madness. There’s less money for shareholders now. Like to add most companies don’t value you and see employees as a body. I always find it strange employees (managers and above) use the Jack Skellington San Francisco 49ers The Nightmare Halloween 2023 shirt and I will buy this terms like “we, my, our” for companies that wouldn’t give them a pot to piss in if they could not work. I’ve done all the forecasting and production scheduling at 5 separate manufacturing plants and line workers are always referred to as heads. I need 5 heads at this station, I need 3.5 heads at this station, each “head” is a full time employee. This mentality comes from lean and continuous improvement methodologies. The goal is to constantly improve the process so it can be done by fewer people who are all less skilled.

There was a 2-way street loyalty, with pensions, etc. But…not for the last 40+. Things DID change. Maybe some were always like this- but most were not until more recently. 50 years ago, companies advertised, “our employees are our greatest asset.” They took great pride in hiring someone out of high school, training them through the years, seeing them rise through the ranks to train the next generation, and pass on the company’s values before riding off to the sunset with a fully-funded retirement.
