But then, something happened. The old-school bosses retired, and the Johnnie Skier Shirt besides I will buy this boards of directors replaced them with a bunch of MBA types. These new execs weren’t loyal to the company, or it’s employees. They were only loyal to their compensation packages. All of a sudden, labor, training, benefits, and pensions became “cost centers,” and needed to be minimized if shareholder returns are to be maximized. So, now you get college grads competing for entry-level jobs, locked into a room full of DVDs for “training,” and sent out on the floor to sink or swim. People are no longer compensated based on the value they add to the company, but by the amount of work they can do for as little pay as possible. Get too good at your job, and start asking for a raise, and you’ll raise your “cost center,” and you’re on the beach.

Johnnie Skier Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Call me old-fashioned, but I always thought that we were better off when we were treating people like…people, and recognizing what they can add to a company, not what they take in return. Nothing “led” to this. Companies have NEVER valued a person’s labor or fairly compensated for it. They will pay as little as humanly possible and make the Johnnie Skier Shirt besides I will buy this working environment as dangerous as they can as long as the company can make a profit. We have child labor laws because corporations will use 8 year olds to clean dangerous equipment and dig coal. We have OSHA because of they will lock their employees in so the women sewing their shirts will have to jump out a 10 story window when a fire starts. We have AEA union because theater companies used to take their New York actors on tour, run out of money in Iowa and not give the actors train tickets to get back home. We have IATSE because theaters used to only heat the house and let the dressing rooms and backstage areas freeze in the winter.
