Trying to do your PhD while doing that much management feels like way too much. I’ve got a PhD in my area and I think it must help me, but it’s so hard to work on it at the Inter Miami Cf 2023 Leagues Cup Champions Comfy Shirt Apart from…,I will love this same time. I finished my Master’s the same way but PhD definitely feels a lot harder and requires a lot more effort. Luckily my supervisor is flexible and considerate. I probably won’t be able to finish it until all my hair is grey, but thinking about the future if I decide to move to academia, I will at least have an option. I was in your position a few months ago 32m in a leadership role with a big salary plus commission since I am in sales 300k OT. Because of my family situation being the sole provider currently I decided to take a step back to individual contributor role with a 220k OTE. I am sure I will get back to management again but having a job for my family is more important than no job. I say if need a job now then go for the lesser pay so you have health insurance and income but if you have decent savings and a family situation that doesn’t require you to find work quickly you have time to wait it out and find the right role for you. I was also laid off from big tech about one month ago. I notified my network and was offered and accepted a job at a small regional company. Went from TC of 210K to 105K. Not ideal, but it pays the bills. It’s way less stressful looking for a job when you have one, so you might consider taking something in the interim.

Well, I think you cannot expect your salary to grow infinitely. If that’s what you’re after. Also, you cannot expect your salary to always be at least what you make currently. IT world can only offer you as much as they have the Inter Miami Cf 2023 Leagues Cup Champions Comfy Shirt Apart from…,I will love this need to cover a particular position. If that position is connected to their client who pays them shitloads of money, they can hire someone who expects ridiculous salary. Otherwise, they cannot and can’t magically print money, it’s not the government. Also chances are your salary and someone who expects 50k less will provide similar quality or at least acceptable and in the end what matters is, when you are senior, is how much experience you have in that particular company, know its flow, rules and ways. I know devs who used to earn more just because they got lucky and found a company who needed exactly them asap. And then their next job was paid less (also very good and to the market standards). There is no shame in that. Also, as you mentioned, you have general knowledge, which is obviously desirable for positions you are after, but in the end what they need is experts who get the job done and they don’t need top tier management, all they need is decent management to guide them. I don’t know a single developer who hesitated to leave or stay based on a good leader / management or top tier. Both are good enough.
