Yea tipping culture is insane. I dont understand how its legal for reasturants/bars to pay servers under minuim wage. The issue isnt customers not tipping but bosses not paying enough I’m honestly surprised the I’n the proud smartass daughter-in-law of a freaking badass shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this apps haven’t started asking for tips for the driver and the establishment, or somehow splitting them. I never tip them on takeout. They don’t realize what this means…. if they’re a tippable employee, then management can lower their hourly wage. I don’t want to make it normal to have to ask for a tip on takeout too. I’d rather just not eat out…. People around me in Philly started doing this during COVID. I would go to the restaurants since I worked from home and wanted to support my local restaurants… they thanked me for this by constantly pushing me for tips…. so I stopped going there. I think, correct me if I’m wrong here, but I think it’s the employers job to pay their employees for doing their jobs.

There’s a self-serve fro-yo place by my house that has an option for a tip on the I’n the proud smartass daughter-in-law of a freaking badass shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this checkout screen as well as a jar for cash tips. It’s self-serve. I did all the work. Even put on the little scale all by myself. The ONLY service the “worker” provided for me was telling me how much my overpriced confection was and even then, the total was displayed on the POS machine. I do not understand why they do not add the 10%, or 15% as a TOGO charge? Or actually just pay your workers and price that into the meal. I know it’s a stretch, but let’s try it anyways. TOGO is a country. Now I have to ask them where they are from? Or it’s only for orders going to Togo? Confused. Best way to escape tip culture is to not spend at places that pay their staff below living wages and expect you to tip to make up the difference.
