The randsom for giving them their art back is awful. They are stealing their stuff and asking for money to return it… There is so much to unpack here that many others in the I’m Not A Foodie I’m A Professional Eater Elevating the Art of Eating T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this comments have already discussed. However, my issue is that how is “donating” any of this money a foolproof method?? How do parents know that the money their kids are taking to their teachers are ACTUALLY being donated and not being pocketed by the staff, since they technically have to hand it to their teachers??? There is so much wrong with this. We did student organised fundraisers at mine, but it was stuff like a loonie ($1) for a scoop of ice cream or we’d do a student craft fair every Christmas which had a door fee for the public and the crafts were barter only. These were things like used items from home such as CDs or records (what I brought), to hand knit stuff (also did this with scarves one year) up to actual old jewellery. Little old ladies from the seniors centre across the road would always come in with their cooler shit and trade us for ours. The coolest thing we received was supposed to be given to our parents. I remember one year, everyone bartered all of the beaded necklaces (super pretty and tasteful gold and amber coloured beads) in maybe 5 minutes and kept trading THOSE because they were so pretty and a micro economy of them sprang up as one girl and her mother made them for what usually was $50 a pop.

We also did holiday choir fundraising at the I’m Not A Foodie I’m A Professional Eater Elevating the Art of Eating T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this mall and seniors centre, would host movie nights, community meetings, public speakers for a charity, all sorts of shit. But the school never made kids pay or use our own crafts against our parents. Fundraisers are ok, but that’s the most disgusting way of handling it. I’d look for a school that’s less dystopian. This happened to me when I was in grade school. We made (fairly ugly) clay bowls, but if we wanted to bring ours home our parents had to pay $10???? Now my dad refuses to throw out that stupid ugly bowl because he paid for it Paying for kids artwork that’s like paying tuition for college. Kids produce lots of art work in elementary school. As a parent I had all my kids artwork and it was a lot. It could end up being expensive
