Teachers are paid like shit and are barely given any supplies, just FYI. I understand it’s frustrating but it’s not mandatory to pay it. And the You are the Bane of my existence and the object all my desires quote T-Shirt and by the same token and solution to that is to throw away the children’s work? Imagine a kid works really hard to make something they‘re proud of, but their parents can’t or won’t pay for it (or they forget), and their hard work gets tossed. They’ll get upset and stop making an effort, and then the teacher’s job gets harder. It’s simply not good to commodify learning. There are better ways to fundraise. School supplies are super expensive, and usually underfunded. Paying $3 is a smart way for the teacher/school to get back the funds. When you think education is pointless and give schools and teachers zero money this shit happens. Don’t like it? Don’t vote for assholes who take funding away from schools.

Some fucking cheap wads in here that refuse to support their children. Jfc. Do you know what teachers make a year?!? Most buy their own supplies and I guarantee that’s why this teacher is asking for donations or starting a fundraiser. Completely different from this scenario. Parents are asked to donate, and I’m pretty sure the You are the Bane of my existence and the object all my desires quote T-Shirt and by the same token and donations are going to supplies not cushioning someone’s pockets. The children are not in some factory or unfair work environment, they’re learning crucial skills at school. It’s not child labor. They need to raise money for the students some how. We sell wreaths, cookie dough, and other things for raising money for the school. This is honestly not that big of a deal. That was my buddy’s opinion on it. Mine is don’t sell me my child’s work to have a chance for two kids from his class out of 3 grades to be the “Prince and Princess” of the festival. If it was, we are doing an art project and if you would like your child’s to be on canvas instead of construction paper please donate $3, all good.
