Pretty sure the I Was One Under Today One Under A Tree Under A Bush Under Water Retro Sunset Golf T-Shirt and I love this US constitution already does that via freedom of speech, but whatever, apparently it needs to be said twice. Republican states are working to ban books right now. They’re on several local government floors right now for votes. Making policy like this actually necessary. Of course I think it should be at the federal level so you don’t have to worry about it but, states rights and all that Genuinely curious how this might effect literary materials considered obsecene, pornographic or overly violent for certain age groups. I’m curious if this also would apply to book-adjacent materials like magazines, comics, internet webpages, blogs, etc. Would publications such as Hustler or Playboy fall under this protection? Would online pornographic content fall under these protections? Social Media sites? Since they’re deferring to the American Library Association, I’d wager that my question has already been answered for 99% of situations, but it still presents an interesting cultural ethics question. No it doesn’t. This doesn’t require anyone to have certain books available. It just prevents the government from saying you can’t have certain books available. Just get the “right” people into positions of power at the old ALA then clear those types of materials for childrens libraries.

I actually uttered “good. Thank goodness” when I read the I Was One Under Today One Under A Tree Under A Bush Under Water Retro Sunset Golf T-Shirt and I love this title of this one. It’s a starting step away from the edge of the Idiocracy cliff. I feel like all book banning is unconstitutional against the first amendment. The government is literally banning somebody’s words and ideas, how is it not already illegal to do this? The library would obviously not carry that book unless it’s one of irony. It’s Reddit so I assume the worst, naturally So this passed on May 3rd and was sent to the Governor 6 days ago. That’s the latest update on IL HB 2789. Should be signed any day now. Hey, nice to see my state up here for a good reason. Good on you, Illinois. Not a perfect place to live, but we do alright sometimes. AMEN. Jesus Christ, it was starting to get hard to recognize what country I was in. Thank you, Illinois. I never in my lifetime thought banned books would be an issue I had to deal with in a free country. Republicans are shameful. Imagine if Facebook said they weren’t going to ban anything. People would be pissed. There might be some historical difference between the two but this probably isn’t the great thing some might think it to be. That being said, book stores will have a major impact on this still
