Most people thought it was a Quarter until they would see “the Queen of England” ?! on it and deem it Canadian currency. And these people were mostly adults when the coin came out! Don’t even get me started on $2 bills (once I had 50 of them and even the bank was giving me crap). I blame the American education system. It’s one thing if you’ve never seen one of these coins before. But you should recognize the names Sacajawea and Susan B. Anthony.

Similarly, I found myself with a ton of half dollars. I just use them as tooth fairy money for my kids. They’re going to run out of teeth before I run out of coins. Our haunted house used to charge $38 for a ticket specifically so we could hand them a $2 in change. It was a bit of subtle marketing so when they saw that bill in their wallet/purse later, they would remember where it came from. Downside, plenty of folks didn’t believe they were real.
