This is why credit cards have cash advance fees when purchasing currency. Don’t try this on your credit card today, unless you somehow have no fees in your agreement. If I remember correctly, the Heartland thank you for the love memories heart shirt besides I will buy this folks who did this avoided that issue, because you were purchasing the coins, and they threw in free shipping as the part of the deal, so it was not treated like cash transaction, but rather a purchase order, so the Credit Cards did not catch on for a good while. Pretty neat for the folks who though to do this. I did it multiple times. It was not a cash advance fee – you ordered them right from the US Mint. It was just an online purchase with free shipping even. I worked at a coffee shop (local place) when these came out and I can personally say these were not a failure in my end! Many people thought they were quarters and my tips went from being like $15/day (for 6 hours) to like $75 or higher… I loved that brief 3 month time frame.

Yeah, the Heartland thank you for the love memories heart shirt besides I will buy this gold kind of stated rubbing off too making them silverish. They looked awfully like quarters without looking. Sort of the same problem with the Suzan b Anthony dollar. Smooth edge, golden colouring…I mean, if you don’t know what’s in your hand, I can see that. When you’re looking right at it, though, idk how you can mistake it for anything but what’s written right on the back (sorry, channeling frustration from a few customers at work who insisted they were quarters or something lol) I used to get these as a kid and got in an argument with some jerk highschool dude working concessions at my sister’s softball game, because he kept refusing it and saying it was only 25 cents. I couldn’t have been older than 9 and I was like “LOOK AT IT! DOES IT LOOK LIKE A QUARTER?? DOES IT SAY ITS WORTH ONE DOLLAR??” and he kept refusing lol. Finally the old lady working the back came up and set things straight for me. Yep. Knew a girl who worked in a dimly lit store and mistakenly cleaned out her register by giving those coins to customers instead of quarters.
