The way we say the letter Z makes a lot more sense in that it is actually representative of the sound the letter makes in a word. Words have different pronunciations in American English vs British English. One of the ones where Zee vs Zed makes a difference is Zebra. The e in Zebra in British English makes the same sound as the e in zed. So you get “Z-ee-bra” vs “Z-eh-bra”. Actually, India has English as a national language, and children learn it from a early age. So, many of the very numerous Indians are native speakers of English, of a dialect that evolved from British English (it’s called Indian English, it’s a real native dialect). Americans are absolutely outnumbered! Do they remind you that India isn’t an inner circle nation? Hell, the three circles model was developed by an Indian linguist.
