When I asked my dad about ZZ Top, I pronounced it the Hemangioma awareness where there is life hope ribbon rainbow mushroom T-Shirt Also,I will get this way they did in the song. My dad tried to correct me, saying it was pronounced “zee” in the US. I didn’t realize it was the letter, and got into an argument with him about how to say the band’s name. I failed to understand why the heck my dad wanted to say the band’s name wrong until he finally explained it to me. I’m Canadian and the first I heard of ZZ Top was a reference in a Calvin & Hobbes strip. I heard it in my head as “zee zee” but maybe Sesame Street primed me for that. I later heard another kid talking about the same strip (the books were in our library and everyone read them) and he said “zed zed” and I thought “that seems wrong”. Oh that’s Barenaked Ladies! They’re my favourite band of all time but I was too old for that album when it came out so I never listened to it all the way through.

Looks like that’s the Hemangioma awareness where there is life hope ribbon rainbow mushroom T-Shirt Also,I will get this song “Crazy ABCs”; looking at a transcript of the lyrics, they know how ZZ Top is supposed to be pronounced but they’re making a joke of it because they’re Canadian. I still think of random lines now and again. “When I make mistakes, I use a lot of salt, cause salt makes my steaks taste great.” Or, “I can parle français, I parled a bit today, seemed like the thing to do.” Or the absolutely wild musical ride that is Eraser. Good stuff! I was 15 when it came out and I had no younger siblings and it was before every album ever was streamable on demand at any time so apart from the stuff I could hear without buying the album it passed me by. Plus I had been disappointed by their previous double album for grownups. Have you heard Steve’s solo albums? In my personal opinion they’re light years ahead of what the Ladies put out after Snacktime.
