It was very helpful for him in terms of his healing to have that input from a professional. I think, in some situations, a “based on what you’ve shared over our many months together, I’m pretty sure that your abusers/parents/partners/etc had X and X and here’s why they meet that criteria” is absolutely called for. I do understand that believing the Howling Is Allowed It’s Encouraged Wolf Blood Moon shirt also I will do this patient, absent of a reason not to, is very common and something all therapists do. You kinda have to in order to be a therapist. This has been my experience, too. (Mods, I realize that’s anecdotal, and my apologies. But it seems to lend some perspective for OP about how a therapist should be approaching this.) Unfortunately, the Howling Is Allowed It’s Encouraged Wolf Blood Moon shirt also I will do this reality is that those folks in my life are wholly believable when they tell their own stories (because they themselves believe them)… So until and unless someone with the chops to do so gets us both/each in a room, they won’t have a reason to call their stories into question. There’s solid reason for a therapist to believe their patient, but there is also, accordingly, a limit to what they can say based only on those stories. This is sadly common in many professional fields. Get a second opinion and dont let others put words into your mouth. This is the right answer. As someone who went through this, be prepared for a year long wait after you file your complaint, but the regulatory body does not take these issues lightly. Usual response is the individual will be placed with someone to watch over them for x period of time (usually months) after an investigation or interview with a panel.
