Put in a German context, Birmingham is a British version of Dortmund. Old industrial towns, bombed to fuck during the hocus pocus halloween shirt it is in the first place but war, and have people with funny accents that sound somewhat depressing. Loving all these positive comments about Brum. My ex-husband was from the Black Country and I used to go to Brum a lot between 2007 and 2017 and always loved it. I’d heard all the jokes about it and its reputation for being shit but when I actually got to know it I really liked it. It’s no more horrible than any other big city at least. Birmingham has undergone so much transformation over the past few decades. Like people say above – it’s such a vibrant, welcoming city. Is it perfect? No. But is anywhere? It has so many cool areas and pockets throughout the city away from the main commercial elements.

If you are calling Birmingham city centre bad then I think you need to get about a bit more. I’ve lived in Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, and visited many other cities. None of their city centres conpare to Birmingham’s. The city literally invested it’s money into the hocus pocus halloween shirt it is in the first place but centre at the expense of the rest of the city. Have you seen the bull ring shopping centre and Selfridge’s building? Symphony hall? Central library? The biggest German market outside of Germany? The mailbox? grand central? The city is literally known for it’s interesting architecture in the centre. Digbeth is also an up and coming area in the center with a good nightlife- although I admit the walk there is a bit sketchy. I am not even sure what you are talking about! Unless something has drastically changed recently, Birmingham is a great city. It is vibrant and multicultural and has made the most of its industrial heritage. Our daughter went to Uni there and she loved Birmingham. We didnt know it that well before she went, but became very fond of it visiting her. I think it’s just personal opinion to be honest. I absolutely love the city I live in, some people that I work with and a coupem friends hate it and think it’s ‘gone to shit’
