This has to be bait. Can’t quite put their finger on it or don’t want to say themselves at risk of looking like bigots.. As a German, are you aware of any historical events in the Harlequin by Hannah Gober Shirt In addition,I will do this 20th century that might have meant British cities needed to regenerate their historic town centres? 🤔 Birmingham is awesome by the way, if you haven’t discovered what’s so great about it then I’m sorry you’re missing out. I have Midlands roots but live in Bristol, one of the supposedly “coolest” cities. My work has taken to me Manchester (overated) and Leeds (underated), but they’re all largely the fucking same to be honest. Some good areas and shit areas everywhere. Technically, that’s the entire BCN, which stretches up to Wolverhampton in the West, Lichfield and Cannock in the North and Coventry in the East. It does have a small river, which was historically very important to trade and industry, unfortunately the Rea just about misses the centre (ruining through Digbeth) and is surrounded by development on almost all sides, so is rather hidden from view. The Canals are closer, but they’re a few metres below street level, are again hidden unless you know what you’re looking for (with several buildings on the B&F bridging over it, hiding it even more). Birmingham is weird because it’s so multicultural but every one of those diverse cultures shows very little tolerance toward each other. It’s a bitter, divided and divisive city. ? Birmingham is a great city. Its a got a great centre. The redevelopments have really opened it up and increased connectivity, its vibrant, its young (one of the, if not the, youngest demographic of any European city), its got a lot of money flowing in.

knocking down the Harlequin by Hannah Gober Shirt In addition,I will do this old library really opened the centre up, from the canals all the way down through the squares, to new street and then the bull ring and off towards digbeth which will get a boost from the HS2 terminal, which will act as a local transport hub for the metro and bus routes. Its going to be one of the best connected cities in the UK. Literally had the best five years of my life studying and living in Birmingham. So I disagree a lot. I think k the vibe is great. Probably a number of factors… lockdown really hurt a lot of small businesses, and small, independent businesses like shops, restaurants etc. are (in my humble opinion) what gives a city its soul: they reflect the history, culture and diverse nature of a big city, and when they vanish, cities become more anonymous, with only chain places that can be found anywhere in the world left. Add in that online retail is really taking a big chunk of shops’ business nowadays, and shops feel even more pain. The big spike in inflation doesn’t help shops, restaurants and bars’ trade either. Like I said, it’s local, independent places that make cities’ identity, and with a lot of those lost due to a host of factors, cities are experiencing a sea change in trading circumstances.
