I just started a new job recently. The day of daylight savings, I was Day Shift. The Night Shift nurse came in and I prompted the Grinch Hat Santa Pine Tree Jeep Merry Christmas Shirt moreover I will buy this discussion on how he wanted to handle it. After some discussion, we decided to split the extra hour so he didn’t have to deal with it all on the back of a 12hr night. So I came in 30 minutes early to relieve him. No employer I have ever worked for has made accommodations for this. In the end, make a decision between you and you coworker(s)… and be sure to keep staffing in the loop so you get paid for the extra time. depends on the business, but this year our owner decided to stay open the extra hour (local food establishment). it’s a pretty dumb decision to make unless you can guarantee there’s a demand to stay open the extra hour. for example, our cost of labor and cost of ingredients used exceeded the amount of money we made on food orders, essentially losing money every minute we stayed open. yet it still seems to be normal for food / hospitality to stay open. you do get paid the extra hour as an employee however you can’t just leave where i work. we close at 2am so technically it never actually hit 2, it rolled back to 1. so you stay open the extra hour, get your extra hour on your clock-in time, and close an hour late.

As someone who used to bartend until 2am, you stay open an extra hour until 2am take 2. And make a ton of extra money cause drunk people get real excited about that shit. I’ve never thought about it and now I’m so amused by someone at work counting down and then the Grinch Hat Santa Pine Tree Jeep Merry Christmas Shirt moreover I will buy this clock just goes back and hour. That sounds like a nightmare Here in Portugal, you just work the extra hour in the winter and one less hour in the summer. If you’re in a long term contract your salary is unchanged. If you’re in a short term contract you get paid/don’t get paid the extra/missing hour. Depends on the place. When I was overnights at a warehouse we just got off an hour earlier. Some places will have you work the extra hour and pay you OT for it
