Get it in writing with a schedule on when the Goodfellas 90’s Retro Robert De Niro shirt Additionally,I will love this title and raise will be! Otherwise they will likely try to fuck you over. Tell them no thank you. You’re happy with your current role and not interested in a leadership position at this time. Make them post to position and then apply for it formally if you want it. Unpopular opinion: perform your new duties with your new title well in the hopes that they give you the promised raise. If they do not give you the raise, you have now gained valuable leadership experience that you can take elsewhere for more money. Think of it as an investment in your self. No. If they hire someone from outside to be a manager, they don’t get to pay that person less while they evaluate if it’s going to work out. Anyone hired for any role by any employer has to spend time ramping up and learning the ropes, that’s just part of the game, and the employer doesn’t get to pay discounted wages while this happens. Reasonable employers know this when they hire someone, whether it’s an internal or external hire. They already have the benefit of knowing you and seeing your work for however long you’ve been there, which is more info than they’ll have on any external candidate. They have more than enough information to decide if you’re the person for the job, so they need to be grownups and either make you an offer, or not. I promise you that the COO wasn’t given a pay cut while he “grew into” his role.

They don’t have the Goodfellas 90’s Retro Robert De Niro shirt Additionally,I will love this fortitude to just evaluate candidates and make an offer, and want to draw the process out to avoid having to actually make a decision. Sadly, them being spineless weenies like this is the best of the options here. They want to move you into the new responsibilities and then deal with the details later, by which point you’ll be used to doing the extra work, and they hope you won’t notice that they only give you a nominal promotion and raise (if any at all), while acting like they’re doing you a favor by letting you stay on at all. They want to get you used to doing the extra work, then say “well, it turns out you’re doing it pretty well, so it must be pretty easy, so we don’t really need to have a manager role at all, you can just keep doing the extra work as part of your current role.” If you don’t want the new role, feel free just to decline it, regardless of whether it comes with a raise or promotion. Not everybody wants to climb some corporate ladder.
