Even so, they should have disclosed to you the Good Burgers Was The Shit shirt and by the same token and potential for withdrawals for your little one. Surprised in the postpartum period aren’t fun. I remember back in 2005 when I was pregnant with my daughter talking to the obgyn about taking my prescribed antidepressant. At that time I was taking Remeron which also helped me sleep at night. I remember the doctor telling me Paxil was safe. Well guess what Paxil is no longer deemed safe as it can actually cause heart defects in the baby. It’s really hard to say what is safe one day will no be safe the next. I did not take Paxil while I was pregnant btw. I stayed on the Remeron but I got PPD anyway and I ended up going on Celexa. My baby had withdrawals from zoloft too. He also had enamel issues with his teeth from it. Something to look out for. I gave birth 4 years ago in Denmark. During the pregnancy I spiraled into depression and started sertraline. I was told there would be minimal risks for the baby. When my son was born he wasn’t breathing so they immediately gave him oxygen (I’m not sure what all they did since I was still birthing the placenta and getting stitched up.) He started breathing on his own and we spent the night in the NICU. I was told that is was due to the sertraline, also that it was a rare side effect. His arms twitched for maybe a few weeks, again I was told it was a rare side effect from my medication.

He’s fine now, and I don’t think it’s caused any other issues for him. I only decided to write this because I feel frustrated. Clearly this isn’t a rare thing. It might be ‘safe’ for the Good Burgers Was The Shit shirt and by the same token and baby (and it was better than me not being around), but I do hope they can better prepare future parents. It’s mentally tolling watching a new born twitch because of a drug you were prescribed while pregnant. Currently weaning off… a month in and still two weeks to go before I’m completely off. Likely another month or more of symptoms after that, SSRIS are no joke… the withdrawal symptoms both physical and mental have me contemplating suicide for the first time EVER (I am in therapy and on supplemental medication to help with this) luckily I know logically this awful state won’t last forever and I just need to get through
