I saw a PO with 3 years of experience go from $60k to $150k in 2 years. CEO pushed it through. It’s all politics. If you’re at a large company, there should be a pay grade level with the George Kittle SF 49ers fuck Dallas 100 percent I would do it again shirt Apart from…,I will love this job, as well as a pay range for that level. Those should be published, somewhere, internally. There is probably a limit on how many pay grades they can move you at once. I’d bring it up with your supervisor. Get the pay grade and salary range for the position. If they can’t give you the entire jump in pay, all at once, ask for a “6 month review” to be put in place from when you took over the additional responsibilities. If you accept the job, ask them to make your promotion (and pay raise) back dated to when you accepted the additional responsibilities.

This never take a stretch role is how you cap at 40 but never grow in your income significantly. I agree. Likely short-sighted policies. Ask for the bottom end of the posted salary range at least. In responding they should at least try to justify their decision. Take the posting and use it with your resume to show that you meet all the minimum qualifications and deserve to be paid within the range. You are right with the official response and reasoning. But name me one external leader who comes into an organization and doesn’t have to learn the role? The politics, relationships, maybe even the tech. Nobody hits the ground running You’re right that nobody hits the ground thinking but the expectation is that the person with experience will get up to speed faster than the one who is brand new. That’s the logic behind it, of course results vary by in my experience the more senior the role is the more true this is.
