I took 100 mg daily of Zoloft along with other psych meds through my pregnancy and we did not notice any withdrawal symptoms. Did you have a midwife? I am not a woman, and therefor have only had a supportive role in gestation and delivery. Also, I’m sorry your baby is going through withdrawals. It must be very stressful for you both. OP, we went through the same thing with our second child. He spent a few days in the NICU while they got his blood sugar up and then he was cleared to go home. I took zoloft for years, and my doctor was explicit that it couldn’t be used “as needed” – that’s not how SSRIs work. They require a buildup time to reach therapeutic levels in the blood, and must be maintained to avoid withdrawal. I’m concerned that your doctor wouldn’t make this clear to you. I don’t know anything about it being safe during pregnancy, it very well might be, but whether you’re pregnant or not, it shouldn’t be used on and off, and should be tapered.
