I quit drinking and it took a while for folks to come around and you’ll have those people who push or ask why and they’re difficult to deal with but you’ll learn tricks. I just don’t make a deal out of it and move on. Weirdly, people tend to be more cool with that than if you say “I don’t drink”. Which always ends up starting the conversation you don’t want to have and ends with them saying “oh go on, just one shot”.

I would love a soda, water, tea, juice, beverage of your choice. Generally people are asking out of politeness so if you express appreciation you’ll be fine. When my wife was pregnant and we didn’t want the people to know, she juste accepted the drink and never drank it. I occasionally drank her glass but people doesn’t actually notice you’re not drinking. They just notice an empty glass. Also, you can just ask for a non alcoholic drink. I know it’s hard in the beginning due to peer pressure and alcohol culture, but in the end nobody really cares. Why are you worried about declining your own beverage as being rude? Unless it’s a cultural thing which may offend hosts saying “Im not drinking tonight” should suffice. act really sad and just say you’re allergic to alcohol. say you get really red and get hives on your body when you drink. people usually leave it alone and don’t act like you’re boring when you simply can’t drink anything due to allergies
