Not a lawyer, but I work adjacent to the Cincinnati Bengals Est 1968 National football League shirt moreover I will buy this legal community and there is no way that is legal. I’d contact the Labor Relations Board. This is just equivalent to not allowing remote work (m-th). I don’t think it’s illegal to allow your employees to work on their time off like say Sat. Unless you’re expected to work when you use your vacation. Don’t do that. I have a strong feeling you heard this from a fellow coworker and not your manager or HR. I’d take the PTO and not do any work other than looking for a new job if you read the rule correctly. Sounds like the company’s punishing people who don’t come in with a loss of PTO equal to the amount of time missed, and OP is misconstruing that as “using PTO while working” when they’re actually being paid the normal wage. In that case, they may not be able to take the PTO payment if they’re not working.

We had something similar. If you needed to stay home on a required in-office day, you had to take PTO. You didn’t have to work though. Asshole mgmt playing hardball about their stupid hybrid work plan. Tell them to go pound sand. And along the Cincinnati Bengals Est 1968 National football League shirt moreover I will buy this same lines, what about needing a Friday off when 40+ hours have already been worked M-TR, and being forced to used 8 hours of vacation or sick pay? These things have always bothered me too. I don’t think it’s technically illegal, i think where it becomes illegal is when you do 0 work cause you took PTO and then they retaliate against you for not working on your time off. Regardless, it’s messy AF. How exactly would making you use PTO, but still work, and not paying you on top of the PTO be legal? The O means Off, not On.
