Also, you can be held liable if you are on PTO and work. For instance, if you are on PTO and get injured, you may not be able to make a workers comp claim. This is a really, really, bad idea for both the Cincinnati Bearcats Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt in other words I will buy this employee and employer. I’m guessing OP is misunderstanding the policy. I’m guessing they just meant “no working from home except Fridays, if you aren’t in the office it’s PTO” and not “you have to work and use PTO.” Get it clarified in writing. If they refuse, they are aware of the status. Once you get the policy in writing, forward it to the state Dept of Labor and ask them for clarification. They are the authority. That is not legal. They cannot make you take PTO and they can’t make you use PTO in order to be compensated for WFH. That is wage theft. If you are using your PTO, you should not be working.

Because the Cincinnati Bearcats Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt in other words I will buy this PTO isn’t yours until after it’s paid, so if you violate the rules and lose the PTO you’re out double. You cannot be made to use PTO but required to work. If you are using PTO you are off for the day, if you are working you are paid. These are even considered two different types of hours for certain purposes: hours worked is when you are clocked in and paid; hours not worked for PTO, LOA, disability, etc. NAL. Employees have to be paid for hours worked, in every state. If they are making you use PTO just to work from home that’s dicey as is. But if they aren’t paying you for 8 worked hours I can tell you that’s illegal. You have to be paid for hours worked, and in this situation it would amount to a pay day worth 16 hours.
