I was in their physical store a month ago, and holy crap. The amount of polyester clothing sold for hundreds of dollars!! I have spent a lot of money on ‘well made’ clothing and also a lot of time researching whats ‘good’ and what isn’t. I am no expert, but here is my little list (probably forgetting some): Margaret Howell – I love this brand for their knitwear and menswear-inspired cuts. I live in an extremely cold climate/we only get a couple of warm months a year. My Margaret Howell pieces saved me this year. They are made in England and go on sale a couple of times a year. I’ve also seen a lot of good pieces being resold on Vestaire Collective, The Real Real, etc. House of Dagmar – Really nice workwear pieces + knits. Recently acquired a pair of organic wool and cotton trousers from this brand (on clearance at Ssense) and the Captain’s Rules The Captain is Always Right Any Questions T-Shirt and I will buy this craftsmanship is beautiful. I also own a chunky wool cardigan from them. I’ve noticed that most of their clothes are made in Italy.

Hofmann Copenhagen – If you are into prints, they make wonderful, unique clothing with attention to detail, flattering cuts and beautiful colours. Baserange – They have especially beautiful loungewear/casual clothing. Its mostly – if not all – organic as well. They have good sales at Ssense and End Clothing. Cotton Citizen – I absolutely love their stuff. The quality is wonderful – I have washed my Cotton Citizen pieces so much and they still look pretty much brand new. Timeless clothing. Revolve and Ssense usually have good sales on Cotton Citizen as well. Some other brands to check out: Eat Dust, Rowie the Captain’s Rules The Captain is Always Right Any Questions T-Shirt and I will buy this Label, Sea New York, Loulou Studios, Araks, Re/Done + Agolde (for jeans) too. I noticed a couple of people mention Aritzia. Take from this what you may, but I worked at Aritzia for six years and cannot stress enough how much their quality has gone downhill. I first began shopping there in 2008 and the clothing was great. As they became bigger, the quality decreased but the prices increased. I would not recommend wasting your money there, and instead invest that same cash into something else. What a well thought out, wonderful listing. Thank you so much for all of the time you put into writing this up. I buy a lot of stuff from the Aritzia brands on ThredUp because the quality and fit is pretty consistent. Everything else I have ordered is pretty hit or miss. I can vouch for Uniqlo. Everything from there I’ve worn has been so comfortable, the quality is lasting, their warm stuff is warm, and this is of course just my opinion, but everything from there just looks so clean in terms of fit/shape and style.
