Black is not a bad word, though context matters. Was your tone arrogant?? Maybe they misheard your tone? Otherwise they should chill. It’s not racist. Reasons they looked at you weird is sometimes you have to read the Black Tees Headbang Loud Music Classy Metalhead Shirt What’s more,I will buy this room. Is it normal for people in that group to describe each other in that way, like “tall, lanky guy” or “short, chubby girl”? If not, that’s going to stick out and make things awkward. Secondly, sometimes it can set red flags for people if they don’t know where you stand on things. They may be thinking “is this guy just describing someone innocently or is he trying to say something else…?”. This is one of those yes and no answers. People who are overly sensitive to race issues will say yes and reasonable people will say no.

Technically no, what you didn’t isn’t racist in my book. But it’s gotten to the Black Tees Headbang Loud Music Classy Metalhead Shirt What’s more,I will buy this point in this country that even the mention of race makes people hesitant. It ain’t right, but it’s kind of how it is for some people and places. Plus, if someone were to read something in your tone or body language you didn’t intend they could leap to conclusions. So it doesn’t make you racist, but it could make you or the people around you uncomfortable (which are not the same thing). I just try to use other descriptors for people. And not just race, I pick things that they are in control of. Instead of saying “the black guy” or “the muslim girl” or “the big Aaron, not the small one”, I try to remember something specific about them. Their hobbies, their favorite things, something they did recently, the style of their hair or clothes, etc. And if you really can’t think of something there’s no harm in trying until you do, as people will start guessing pretty quickly and you can just wait for the right answer.
