On the other hand, one of my best friends was telling me about someone who came into her job to hit on her and was trying to convey how ridiculous it was that he asked her and was like “yeah he was like this old black guy and I was like dude no”. i was curious which part of that description was supposed to be so ridiculous that he hit on her. she’s been hit on by older men before, but she seemed so disgusted and that it was so insane he would think she would be receptive to it. had to give her a talking to about that (i’m black) and then a few years ago when the world lost it’s damn mind, she thanked me because she reflected and realized that yes, she did have some racist thoughts from how she grew up she wasn’t aware of. so even if it’s racist, it’s not always necessarily malevolent or aware.
