If only there was some way to address this crisis, like lifting the Billy Joel Madison Square Garden New York City June 2nd 2023 shirt in other words I will buy this income cap on social security taxes. No, I can’t see anything either. That doesn’t help, because the top earners don’t get salaries so no income tax, they get stock options, that they don’t sell so there’s no capital gains tax, which they take loans with stock as collateral, and the loans get paid off from their estate after they die so there’s no tax. This is a bad take at the start. Top earners are given stocks (RSU) not options. Both would be taxed, RSUs being the full tax of the given value at the time of disbursement. They are taxed as standard income, same as short-term gains or normal pay checks. Rich folks do not report earnings as normal “income” or salary. Usually they will put their money in stocks and take a loan against the value of their assets to pay for living expenses. A wealth tax, higher capital gains tax, and higher corporate taxes are the way to go here.

About 6% of folks for 2023. Still, that’s a good chunk. It’s an oddly regressive part of a fairly progressive program otherwise. So glad Ive paid 10s of thousands of dollars for other peoples retirements while not making enough to both live my own life AND save for my own retirement. At least I’ll get what I put in back when I retire in 30 years….. OH WAIT! I was 16 in 1982 (I turn 67 in 2033, yay) when I had my first job. When I got my first pay stub and took account of the Billy Joel Madison Square Garden New York City June 2nd 2023 shirt in other words I will buy this social security tax, I clearly remember telling myself “I’ll probably never see any of this so I’ll just pretend I’m giving the money to my grandparents.” It will suck if it the fund is rendered insolvent right as I retire. I’m amazed I thought that it would be a dumpster fire as far back as 1982, but I had seen how utterly fucked the local (Flint MI) economy was, and just extrapolated or something.
