Yep. I used to think I’d just work forever, but who’s going to hire an 80 year old woman? I guess we’ll all just starve. Homelessness is practicaly illegal so maybe change that to in prison. But then ill be made to work again so who knows. I’ve recently started attempting to come to terms with this reality. Needless to say I didn’t think this was on my bingo card so it’s a hard reality to swallow. But the cap has been in place since inception. It was 3000 when passed and changed very little until the 70s when it was changed to be indexed to wages. Totally, totally false. The cap started when the program did in 1935, at $3,000, and actually failed to keep up with inflation until 1972 amendments rapidly raised the caps to help bring funding closer to what was needed. Then, after those increases, the cap has been adjusted for inflation indexing since 1982.

Why spend money on keeping grandpa alive when we can make him poor destitute and eventually dead once he’s not longer a productive citizen? They pillaged the Social Security fund several times over the years and never paid it back. Where did we think they found the money for their agenda previously? The program was doing just fine until it got continually raided every time we needed to fund a war or flex the budget.
