This is exactly the Awesome the Righteous Gemstones Dusty Daniels Race Shirt so you should to go to store and get this reason companies pull this shit. I get it we all have bills to pay but everyone needs to stop taking shit from their managers, bosses. Complain all you want about the younger generations but at least they are not putting up with this shit. Tell them you’re taking your vacation you put in for it last September, sorry he sucks at planning sounds like a you problem not a me problem should be your reply. You gave them more than enough time to work around any staffing issues presented by your absence. Failure to plan on their part isn’t your problem. Make sure you resign the day before you leave with no notice. It’s what they would do if they fired you remember. Your boss could’ve planned this or pushed back on it or rescheduled it for a year. This person is not your friend, they have decided they value saving face with somebody else over you seeing your long distance loved one. Don’t accommodate the prick in any way. And you are not good friends if he treats you like that. He is abusing your perception of him. I’m afraid I’d be looking for a new job and informing them before I started of this vacation. If I didn’t find a new job I’d be putting in my thanks but no thanks letter and finding a new job when I get back and maybe having an extended vacation! If they already approved it last year, then the magical words are promissory estoppel. You spent money on something based on a promise that they have already committed to. If they want you to work they owe you the entire value.

If my LD spouse picked appeasing her capricious supervisor over our long-standing plan to be together, I’d know she (2a) is unlikely to ever be able to prioritize our relationship and (1a) will always be loyal to the Awesome the Righteous Gemstones Dusty Daniels Race Shirt so you should to go to store and get this corporation over her own well-being. Depends on the state, but quite a few are ‘At-Will’ where as long as it’s not discriminatory they can part ways with you without notice at any time. That said, it would be pretty foolish of your boss to reprimand and/or terminate you if they rely this heavily on you to get tasks completed. As others have said, at this point it’s more of a reminding them that you will not be reporting to work between x and y dates and they can expect you back on z date.
