As an atheist with a surface-read level of understanding of theology, I say do your thing, but don’t bring it to my house and try to make it my business. I know where you’re at, if I want in I’ll come and join you on my terms. Calm down. as an atheist I read into the Avenged sevenfold poster july and aug tour 2023 poster shirt and I love this history and beliefs of various religions just so I can learn more about them. I don’t actually think that makes me more worthy of being able to critique religion than someone who has very little knowledge of it, as the basis for the dismissal of it doesn’t in reality lie with the specifics but instead with the idea of faith as a basis for belief, even though rhetorically the specifics are criticized. well, i’m agnostic, but i’ll give my reasoning for not being religious. i was raised a devout catholic, pro-life, anti-protestant, the whole nine yards. as i got older, i had an edgy atheist phase, where i believed religion was the root of human evil, or whatever. end of the day, religion is nothing more than a personal decision on what you believe and the doctrine you want to define your life by. that, of course, does not mean you get to define the lives of others, but there are plenty of religious people who do not push their religion onto others. religion is not evil on it’s own. and if there’s someone up there, i’d love to talk to them when i die. an eternal beings perspective on how i lived my life, whether negative or positive, has to be interesting. i’m not going to worry about what is after death during my one and only life, whether it’s an eternity of happiness, suffering, or nothingness. i’m also not particularly interested in living the only life i’m given based on rules written far before i was born, but that might be more of a young person being rebellious thing.

Being an atheist or agnostic is super simple you just have to go “i personally don’t believe and that’s fine, but if you practice religion in a way that doesn’t hurt others that’s cool too” And like it can be anything from occult beliefs to christianity as long as people don’t get hurt by it like how christians often try to frame religion as an excuse for their discriminatory beliefs like don’t do that and we cool I mean, it’s the Avenged sevenfold poster july and aug tour 2023 poster shirt and I love this best moment for Jesus to appear. There are still religious people, but a higher number of people lean into atheism. If he won’t come down here in the next ten years, I won’t believe in Christianity. Or any god when we’re at it. Atheism’s at a big disadvantage because religion’s been around for thousands of years, so any arguments atheism has against religion will already have been addressed and debunked by some 14th century monk.
