Man I’m sorry. Yeah my dad is a doctor and my grandma and my cousins are all nurse practitioners and doctors. I was very fortunate to have the Autism Awareness Month Acceptance Kindness & Support T-Shirt Additionally,I will love this Obgyn I had. But the ER doctor saw that I was heavily tattooed and made an assumption even though I had a medical file that read like a dictionary. Childbirth is basically one of the most dangerous ‘natural’ things a woman can do in their life, and made worse if you’re unlucky enough to do it in the US. Not only do doctors/medical professionals not listen well to women, they particularly don’t listen well to people of color. Which is why so often shit like this happens—and then a chorus of folks who don’t have this experience chime in and victim blame and say oh that wasn’t my experience! Maternal care is a shit show and it can make it harder for some to seek medical treatment, which makes the experience even more risky! Serena Williams nearly died in childbirth because they didn’t believe that she had blood clots! (She’d had them before and recognized the symptoms.) If she struggled to get adequate medical care, what hope does anybody else have?? The price for delivering a baby in the US is about 50,000 dollars….and still you’re not allowed to talk to a doctor when you can’t feel your legs? Lol Fr. For that kind of money, there should be an oiled up person feeding me grapes while I lounge on a tufted settee.

In the US the government can not only force you to carry the child you don’t want to term, but they can put you into lifelong medical debt to do so. Even for people who are prepared to have kids, with good jobs and health insurance frequently have co-pays and that’s on top of there not being government provided paternal leave. Serena fucking Williams almost died giving birth to her first kid because the nurses told her to shut up and quit complaining. She had a fucking pulmonary embolism and had to save her own life. What you say does not correspond to the article; in the article she says she received “excellent medical care”, and in the linked original article at CNN she says she has the nurses and doctors to thank for her life.
