Life is great. We both work, but we make great fun plans for travel, outings, etc. Financial decisions revolve around us alone. There were so, so many reasons. I just could not bring myself to bring a child into this world. It doesn’t seem like a good place. I knew I would worry myself to death and would also not enjoy the Autism awareness acceptance infinite T-Shirt besides I will buy this monotony that is parenthood. I always thought I’d have kids – was sure of it really – until I made the choice not to, and then I felt so, so free. My time is spent on various hobbies, which I have time to get good at (music/physical activity/languages). I go to school and am always learning something new. I travel, host dinner parties and wine and cheese parties, etc., and relax, dance, and garden. I am connecting with my inner child and doing all the things she loves to do, and I am, in a way, reparenting her (me). I absolutely love my life and feel like I am thriving, and I have joy and the wonder of a child. The biggest thing that it comes down to, is I basically can’t afford it. I can barely afford myself, let alone a mini-me, let alone afford a good place to raise a family. Sure, my area is pretty nice, low crime for the most part, but rent is easily $2100/mo and up.

(That and I’ve been Asexual as long as I can remember, never understood the Autism awareness acceptance infinite T-Shirt but in fact I love this hype or excitement for sex, I’ve never had much interest. Why is it such a “make or break” thing for some people?) I have a genetic condition that I don’t want to pass on to my kids. My condition could also cause problems for me down the line which would mean my kids might need to take care of me I have three different lifelong illnesses. I don’t want something to potentially happen to the child if I have a seizure or something. Also children are expensive. No kids here. Grew up in a dysfunctional family, and savor the peace and quiet. Sometimes it’s lonely, sometimes I wonder what I could be missing out on. However, whenever I talk to people who do have kids, they get lonely too, they seem stressed, and their experiences aren’t all that unique. Kids are all “above average” and have their own talents, hell I was one of those kids once! They just grow up to be regular adults like the rest of us, most of the time. I just weighed the pros and cons of having kids, and for me/husband, the “cons” outweighed the “pros.” That’s all. If you have lots of money and a reliable network of people to help, you’ll probably enjoy the experience. I don’t have those things, so I enjoy my free time, extra money and less stress. I’ll spend my time doing whatever I want. Which does sometimes include hanging out with my friends and their tiny humans. I adore children and I try to go for “fun aunt” vibes. Hopefully a couple will visit when I shrivel into a trembling prune. We just don’t want them. My whole life I could tell that my parents WANTED us and loved everything about being parents. I also saw other kids/parents where you could tell that was not the case. After growing up…realized I’m the later -> thus not going to have them. “Why don’t you have any tatoos?” I just don’t want them. With kids the stakes are too high to half-ass it if you’re not competely into the idea in the first place.
