I never understood why that’s the Across the Spider-Verse The Spider Verse 2023 shirt it is in the first place but case. If you make over $160000 and can’t make due to with the $4000 you will be getting every month when you retire on top of whatever the fuck you should have saved, you don’t deserve the air you breathe. Realize that a typical CEO pays all their social security for the year in their first paycheck. Just one paycheck. Because our country exists to make the rich richer, and placate the working class just enough so they don’t revolt and overthrow the rich. Honestly, just kick it up to 200k and it would be perfectly fine and we could even expand benefits…I make 6 figures and would love to have it be higher because my mom would be totally screwed without her SS; she even has a pension as well. When Social Security (SS) gets that money in every week from workers, what should they do with it? Just throw all those twenty dollar bills in a big room and stick a guard in front of it? No, because then the money would lose value over time due to inflation. (That $20 I put in in 1980 is worth about $73 in today’s money.)

So they have to invest this money somewhere. But where? Remember SS was started in 1935, shortly after the Across the Spider-Verse The Spider Verse 2023 shirt it is in the first place but Great Depression, and the people making up the rules were understandably leery about investing in the stock market. So rules were established that this money being held for future retirees could only be invested in extremely safe investments. What’s the safest investment in the world? US Treasury Securities/Bonds. The U.S. government has never defaulted on its obligations, and investors consider U.S. government securities one of the world’s safest investments. So that’s where 100% of the SS Trust Fund is invested. Oh I am already mentally preparing myself to never be able to retire and have to work till I die. Set my expectations real low so I don’t come out disappointed. The other option is that you’re forced into retirement because no one will hire people over age 60 for anything but 20hr per week customer service jobs.
