Apparently one of the Andrew Wiggins T-Shirt it is in the first place but best methods for getting kids to try new foods is to just repeatedly put it in front of them and not say much about it, accept that they don’t eat everything to completion but positively encourage them to try everything. Something like 80% of kids will develop to just have normal appetites and preferences, some foods they truly don’t enjoy and a tolerance for most everything (common to their local culture and what their parents eat, at least). Obviously that 20% that do have a problem eating rounded nutrition but that’s a different conversation. I’m not a parent, I just read that online, but it does kind of seem like what my parents did to me. Ive never made my child finish whats on her plate. I also serve her way too much. But she eats until shes done, and thats that. I watch 600lb life and some of the people would say they were made to eat everything on their plate. So they thought full, or stuffed meant you werent hungry any more.

I don’t think it’s out of hatred. I genuinely think they think I need to finish it/I haven’t gotten enough food. FWIW, when my kids were toddlers (about 10-15 years ago) we were directed to a class on developing healthy eating habits, which included eating until you’re satiated, and not to push kids to make “happy plate” (ie force them to eat everything on the Andrew Wiggins T-Shirt it is in the first place but plate even if they’re already full). So, I will say that training and attitudes are changing… Literally shoving Motts Animal Fruit Gummies into my mouth as I read “dopamine release” and never felt more targeted in my life. It can difficult as a parent to know where to “hold the line”, so to speak. You want to allow for preferences and variable appetite, as especially for the latter it vary quite a bit as they age.
